Memoria Romana
An Interreg project to promote cross-border Gallo-Roman heritage.
Since July 2025, the Pays d’Arlon Tourist Office has been involved in the Interreg Greater Region Memoria Romana project.
The aim of this European cooperation programme is to promote the cross-border Gallo-Roman heritage shared by Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, France and Germany.
Project partners
Until 2028, several partners in the Interreg Greater Region Memoria Romana project are working together to raise awareness of a rich shared heritage:

- the Maison du Tourisme du Pays d’Arlon (Belgium)
- the Municipality of Dalheim (Luxembourg),
- the City of Trier (Germany),
- the Community of Municipalities of Damvillers-Spincourt (France).
These territories, linked by a shared Gallo-Roman past, wish to enhance the tourist and cultural appeal of their archaeological sites.
Planned actions
As part of the Interreg Memoria Romana project, the Pays d’Arlon Tourist Office will implement several initiatives:
- creation of new cross-border cycle routes,
- improvement of existing routes,
- tourism promotion campaigns,
- organisation of events dedicated to the Gallo-Roman theme.
An immersive approach
The originality of the project lies in its immersive approach, which brings the Gallo-Roman world back to life while promoting networking among local stakeholders and the communities involved.
This cultural and tourism cooperation aims to (re)discover an exceptional heritage and sustainably enrich the tourism offering of the Greater Region.
A shared investment
For the Pays d’Arlon area, a budget of €308,019 has been allocated:
- 60% financed by the FEDER,
- 30% by the Walloon Region,
- 10% by the municipalities of the Pays d’Arlon (Attert, Arlon, Messancy and Aubange).
