Parc Hydrion
Make the most of Hydrion Park and its 30 hectares of natural surroundings on the outskirts of the city!
The recreational area is a great place for children to have fun. Benches, picnic tables and other seating inviting you to take a break are also provided so that you can fully enjoy this green oasis.
Hydrion Park is also a walking area that offers new ways to reach or explore the town on foot or by bike.
The park features:
- 1.3 km of cycle and footpaths (including 125 metres of footbridges).
- 2.3 km of footpaths (including nearly 300 metres of wooden boardwalks).
- Thus, the ‘short loop’ of around 1 km is accessible to people with reduced mobility, pushchairs and bicycles, whilst the ‘long discovery loop’ takes you on a 3 km walk (not accessible to people with reduced mobility, pushchairs or bicycles), offering a more varied experience: forest paths, stony tracks and wooden boardwalks.
The Semois river flows through the park for nearly 800 metres. It plays an important role in water management in Arlon. It serves as a floodplain, helping to slow down and control the flow of the Semois and limit the risk of flooding further downstream.
The park also comprises:
- 3 hectares of marshland
- 5 hectares of wet meadows
- 8 hectares of wet forest within a strict nature reserve
- 2 hydraulic structures to manage water levels
And the beaver, which has been living here for around fifteen years, also plays its part. It helps to slow down the flow of water and create particularly rich wetlands.
Enjoy!
